The problem
A claim is won on paperwork. Yours is scattered everywhere.
Decades of paper
DD-214 in a fire safe, medical records in three portals, C&P notes on a napkin. A claim can stretch across years, and the paperwork has to survive every move, deployment, and spilled coffee along the way.
Evidence wins claims
Ratings ride on documented symptoms and continuity of care. Memory fades and appointments blur together. A dated, organized record doesn't.
The cloud isn't yours
Diagnoses, service history, finances: the most sensitive records you own. They don't belong on someone else's server, under someone else's terms.
How it works
Three steps to squared away.
- 01
Muster your records
Drag in discharge papers, decision letters, and medical records. Every file is AES-256 encrypted the moment it lands in the vault.
- 02
Log life as it happens
Symptoms with severity and impact, appointments with before-and-after notes. Every entry carries an immutable date stamp.
- 03
Hand off a squared-away packet
One click builds a clean, organized evidence folder for your VSO, making you the easiest client they'll see all week.
Inside the app
See it for yourself.

Know your numbers
Enter the ratings from your decision letters and MusterVault runs the VA's own combined-rating formula, then the published compensation tables for your dependents. It shows the math instead of an answer, and it never estimates a rating from your symptoms.

A record that holds up
Log what you actually live with, the day it happens: severity, the condition it belongs to, and what it cost you. Every entry carries the date it was recorded, so months of honest notes replace a memory reconstruction in a waiting room.
Your whole claim, in order
Documents, journal entries, appointments, and the dates you filed, merged into one timeline you can filter by condition. When someone asks what happened when, the answer is on one screen.

The packet your VSO actually wants
One click bundles your documents by category with a summary PDF on top. For every condition it lists what is in the file and what isn't, then the documents, journal entries, and appointments tied to it. It's an inventory of your own records, not advice about your claim, and it makes you the easiest case they see all week.

Your eyes, your call
Light and dark, both included.
Same app, same data, whichever is easier on your eyes. Text size is adjustable too, because squinting at your own records is not a feature.

Screenshots show sample data, not a real veteran's records.
What it does
Everything a claims file needs. Nothing it doesn't.
Encrypted document vault
Import discharge papers, medical records, and claim letters. Every file is AES-256 encrypted the moment it enters the vault. Decrypted copies exist only when you deliberately export them.
Dated symptom journal
Log symptoms with severity, impact, and duration. Entries carry immutable timestamps and export to a clean, credible PDF.
Appointment & C&P tracking
C&P exams, VA and private appointments with before/after notes, a month calendar, and .ics export to any calendar app.
Everything by condition
See your documents, journal entries, and appointments grouped by condition, with severity trends over time.
One-click VSO packetPremium
One click builds a tidy folder to hand your accredited representative: everything they need, organized.
Built for every set of eyes
One-tap large text up to 200% right on the lock screen, and scanned letters can be read aloud by your PC, fully offline.
The fine print, up front: MusterVault is an organizational tool only. It never advises on claims, suggests statement wording, or predicts ratings. For claim status it points you to VA.gov; for advice, your accredited VSO, free of charge.
Security posture
Defense in depth, on your desk.
Most apps ask you to trust their servers. MusterVault removes the servers instead. There's nothing to breach, subpoena, or shut down.
- AES-256 encryption at rest for every file, the moment it enters the vault
- Your passphrase never leaves your machine. There is no account to breach
- No cloud, no telemetry, and no phoning home, ever
- Updates only when you ask, and cryptographically verified
- Digitally signed Windows installer (publisher: Jacob McKelvy)
- View and export everything forever, paid or not
Why this exists
“After four years in the Marine Corps, I realized how chaotic the process ahead was going to be the second I looked at the pile of paperwork.”
I wanted an easy way to store your documents securely, with a dashboard to track your appointments, conditions, and benefits. It's yours to make your own with simple customization. And your VSO will appreciate the simple exports, which list out your symptoms and organize the documents they need to help with your claims process.
MusterVault is a Native American owned, disabled-veteran owned business. I've been through the claims process myself; this is the tool I wished I had.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Is MusterVault really free?
The core app is free forever: import and organize your documents, keep the symptom journal, track appointments and conditions, and make encrypted backups. No account, no card, no time limit. Every download also includes a 14-day trial of the full premium claim toolkit. After that, premium is a one-time $49.99 license, or you can earn a key free by writing an honest 50-word review at mustervault.com/free-key. And if you picked up a key during the free-beta period, it stays premium forever, as promised.
Is my data ever locked behind the paywall?
Never. Your documents live encrypted on your computer and remain yours to view, export, and back up whether or not you ever pay. The free app keeps working forever; premium only adds tools on top. We think holding a veteran's records hostage would be disgraceful, so the app is built to make it impossible.
What does premium add?
The claim toolkit: a benefits summary with your combined rating and monthly pay, BAH lookup, file coverage, claim and filing trackers, the symptom tracker, one-click VSO handoff packets, and full-text search inside your documents. Your personal license key arrives by email. Paste it into Settings once and you're done. The key is verified on your computer, with no activation server and no account. One key covers your personal machines.
Does MusterVault ever connect to the internet?
Only when you press the button: a user-initiated check for app updates and current VA rate tables, both cryptographically verified. No telemetry, no cloud, no accounts. Your data never leaves your computer.
What about updates after I buy?
Updates are free. The app checks only when you ask it to, and annual VA compensation-rate changes arrive as small verified updates without reinstalling.
What happens if my computer dies, or I switch to a new one?
Your vault is a set of encrypted files on your own disk. Include it in whatever backup you already trust (an external drive works fine), and you can export unencrypted copies of anything at any time. A backup made on Windows opens right up on Mac and back again, same file, so buying a new computer, even a different kind of computer, never costs you your claim file. Your license key works on your personal machines too, so a new computer picks up exactly where the old one left off.
Is MusterVault affiliated with the VA?
No. MusterVault is an independent, veteran-built product with no connection to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. It organizes your records and never advises on claims. That's what your accredited VSO is for, free of charge.
Is there a Mac or phone version?
Windows and Mac both, as of the latest release: mustervault.com/mac has the signed, notarized Mac download. There's no phone app; the vault is a desktop tool by design, but every free calculator, the benefits pages, and the VSO finder work right in a phone browser.
