GI Bill housing allowance by state

Post-9/11 GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance rates for all 299 military housing areas across every state and D.C., from the official DoD tables effective January 1, 2026.

One thing to know before you look

The GI Bill housing allowance is not set by state. It follows the ZIP code of the campus you attend, using the military BAH rate for an E-5 with dependents there. Two schools in the same state routinely pay very different amounts, which is why each state below lists every housing area separately. The national average is $2,289.81 a month.
