Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU) pays at the 100% rate without a 100% schedular rating, for veterans whose service-connected conditions keep them from maintaining substantially gainful employment.
This form documents work history, education, and how the conditions affect employment. The VA may also ask past employers to complete a companion form (21-4192).

- TDIU is paid at the 100% rate; the published pay tables show what that means monthly.
- The general schedular thresholds involve one condition at 60%, or a 70% combined rating with one condition at 40%; exceptions exist and the official page is the authority.
