VA Form 10182

Decision Review Request: Board Appeal (Notice of Disagreement)

Takes your case to a Veterans Law Judge at the Board of Veterans' Appeals.

Get the official form

Opens the official VA.gov page, always the authority on the current version and instructions.

The Board Appeal is the third review lane: a judge, not a regional office, decides. You choose one of three dockets: direct review of the existing record, evidence submission, or a hearing before the judge.

The dockets trade speed for the chance to add evidence or be heard in person.

Worth knowing

  • Must be filed within one year of the decision.
  • VA's stated goals by docket: direct review around 365 days, evidence submission around 550, hearing around 730; these are goals, not promises.
  • Evidence submission allows new evidence within a 90-day window after filing.
